Premiered at my junior piano recital, Oberlin, OH, Spring 1996. 20'.
This piece is dedicated to the memory of my friend Julie Danielson. Julie and I worked together in Alaska in the summer of 1995. She was a caring and sympathetic woman with a wonderfully infectious laugh. A couple of years later, I received a letter informing me that she had drowned crossing a flooded river in California. I was about to begin work on this Sonata.
